Fabric Types
Bamboo: It is a natural textile made from the pulp of bamboo grass. It grows very quickly and does not usually require the use of pesticides and herbicides to thrive. Bamboo fabric is light and strong, has excellent wicking properties and is, to some extent, antibacterial. It is very soft and can be worn directly next to the skin.
Cotton: It is a soft and natural fiber that comes from the cotton plant. Cotton allows the skin to breathe and it wears and washes well.
Lace: Lace is an openwork fabric, patterned with open holes in the work, made by machine or by hand. Originally linen, silk, gold or silver threads were used. Now lace is often made with cotton thread.
Lycra: Lycra is a trademark of the spandex fiber owned and produced by DuPont. It is a very light and soft fabric, but stronger and more durable than rubber. It is often blended with other fabrics to provide a great freedom of movement in foundation garments.
Microfiber: It is the name given to the new ultra-fine fibers used by the underwear industry. It is made from these extra-fine fibers to provide a superior texture and incredible softness. It looks and feels good on the skin as it forms to the body's shape.
Modal: Modacrylic is a manufactured, medium-weight fiber with superior strength and abrasion resistance. It offers an extremely soft feel and maximizes breathability with an absorbency power even stronger than cotton.
Nylon: Known for its high strength and quick-drying time, nylon enhances the durability and practicality of clothes.
Polyamide: It is a synthetic fabric, made of resistant, flexible and elastic threads. It also washes well.
Polyester: It is a synthetic fiber that prides itself on durability. Polyester has high strength, excellent resiliency and wrinkle resistance. It is a quick-drying fiber that has excellent shape retention. Holds color brilliantly.
Viscose: It is a non-synthetic fabric with a silk-like texture and feels heavenly against your skin. Its soft, lightweight and absorbent properties make it a very popular fabric for underwear and loungewear.
Spandex: Spandex is often blended with other fabrics to provide stretchability and softness to a garment. It has the same attributes as Lycra but is not registered.
